Firefly Car Rental

The online booking went off without a hitch, but at the counter a sickening discussion arose with an obscure looking young man about several extra insurances. I had to fight like a lion for a long time to get them step by step, all off the screen again. In retrospect they proved to have conned me by giving me a more expensive car – plus charged – as had been confirmed by them before. At Alicante A/P they are located all the way at the end of the row, around the corner, out of sight; a kind of "backstreet" location. Well, that's how they behave. Take this warning seriously!

I can't state how money grabbing this company is. Easy Jet who I originally booked the car through should be ashamed to be linked with such a company. So many hidden costs, insurance scam like everyone else said I already paid online yet that day this is just a gap insurance and I would need to claim through them. They tried to put a 拢2300 hold on my card. Luckily…my limit is only 拢1000 and it refused the hold…another hold charge 拢615 no idea what this was for…the company are a rip off and staff should be ashamed not even worth a 1 star

Pity I cant give no stars.
I questioned a charge of 60 euros when I picked the car up from Alicate Airport and was told " it was for the fuel deposit" if I returned the car full it would be given back".
When I did not get it back, I was told I had agreed to "roadside assistance insurance" and I would not get it back
Just rip off merchants – don't know why RyanAir use them.
Don't have anything to do with them.

Do not use this car rental company!!! I collected the car at Seville airport and noticed a scratch on the off side wing I took a photo of the damage which of course is timed and dated. I went back to the office to mention that I had noted the damage and was told not to worry.
Upon returning the car the scratch was noted and the blame put on me. I protested showing the photo I had taken but the girl would not listen!! A month later Firefly/Hertz took 拢162.27 from my credit card without contacting me in any way. As far as I,m concerned this company are a bunch of thieves, Stay well away!!

One star is too many for this fraudulent hire company! I was charged for an extra day by Malaga branch saying I returned the car late. Car was returned at 10:30 (contracted return time was before 12 noon). They purposely left returned date and time empty on car return form and said I returned the car at 3pm. At 3pm I was 35000 ft in the sky flying back home! Avoid these cow boys!

I booked a pick-up for 8 pm at the Lisbon Airport, I let them know of my flight number. Flight got delayed and I could not pick up a car that night because office closed at 8. No apology, no reimburse, juts lousy service.
Why accept pick-ups at closing time?

Picked up car in Alicante. Was told by the guy behind the desk I had to sign different places. asked for the words written as codes. he explained them as possible damages, and all this would be returned as long as there were no damage. turned out, I payed for their most expensive insurance, even though I showed him my own bought insurance. "no problem, no insurance for you". but how tricked I was.
Will never use this tragedy scam company again. Nothing important on their web-page works, and there is no answer to get from them, what so ever.

Beware of Firefly… Murcia International Airport – Spain. I rented an Intermediate car at a very cheap price of just over 5 Euros for 10 days. There was only One member of staff on that morning so had to wait about an hour and a half in a queue until I got served. I was then offered the choice of either manual or automatic. I checked and the staff member confirmed that there would be NO Extra charge for either car, so I chose the Automatic. When I got home I was charged just over 37 Euros for an upgrade. They have refused to resolve this as I'd signed the rental agreement – Check everything you sign – I class this as Theft

Appalling. Can't even complain about the service as they did not provide any. Arranged to pick up a car from Barcelona on Christmas Eve. The office in the terminal was shut and they left a note saying the office near the cars would re-open at 9pm. Waited 2 hours for it to NOT open and had to go to an alternative company at huge expense. We were one of four groups of people who were let down on Christmas eve- how is this service still able to happen? And why do intermediate brokers even list them? Do not touch!!

BUT BEWARE OF FIREFLY
FIREFLY CAR RENTAL CREATED BY HERTZ
through a car rental comparison site
RENTAL CARS.com
RENTALCARS.com, online sorted this & advertise these criminals as bonafide car rentals – I booked a cheap comparison site rental car to pick up from Malaga airport on the 28/10/19 until the 2-11/19. 5 days. FIREFLY
When I eventually got to the desk amid staff talking garble with each other in front of me. They asked for a BOND (deposit) of Thry said
拢 150.
They in fact stole 拢252 from my card that day.
I wasn鈥檛 given any kind of customer service SMILES
The vehicle was as booked a 4 door hatch it seemed ok
I was 20 mins into my drive when TYRE PRESSURE warning came into the dash board warning me they鈥檙e could be a flat tyre.
I did think that the car felt as if it was pulling There was a flat type ( run flats) as the car was by now driving badly!
鈧?>80 euro later in taxi fares and the next day.
I returned the vehicle to FIRE FLY Malaga airport +1 offices at Malaga airport.
This had taken half a day from my 5 day trip ! Plus I had tried several times to call Firefly on their CUSTOMER SERVICE HELPLINE NUMBER -they do not respond !
I attempted 32 calls to their customer service. No one answered the phone !!
They gave me another vehicle which wrecked of smoke. It smelled really bad! Made me feel sick !
I asked for another car they refused unless I paid for an upgrade!!!
So I was forced to take this stinking smoke filled car !
I returned this car 4 days later 鈥?full of petrol鈥?.
I handed over the petrol receipt ( which was a requirement) to the Spanish lady @ the Firefly returns office with the keys and an indication I鈥檇 be complaining about their bad cars
I went to get my return flight
Since the 2/11/19 I have made 72 attempts to call them. They DO NOT ANSWER THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE. E V E R !
I have todate ( 6/11/19) sent 15 query forms direct to FIRE FKY through their website. Asking for my money back. They have ignored everything I have called Rental cars .com who I booked these cowboys from and they have fibbed me off too. So I am left with money STOLEN from my card of 拢252 and no way of reclaiming it
DO NOT BOOK FIRE FLY CARS. DO NOT USE
RENTAL CARS comparison site either
I EMAILED EVERYONE
RENTAL CARS.com & called them
Hertz executive customer services & their CEO Kathryn Marinello
Hertz executive team have responded but unfortunately their agent SUNNI misread my complaint & thought I was after compensation only and neglected to understand that stealing 拢252 from my account was the main point !!!!!
Compensation would be nice but the pint of all of this is THEFT. BAD SERVICE. DANGEROUS CARS. WASTING TIME.

Total sham company. Customer service was terrible, tried to add lots of extra charges at the airport which I avoided. When I got the car it was covered in mud – but as no one came to inspect the car with me and it was a five minute walk from the office I naively only took photos of the large and obvious scratches (none of which were documented). When we returned the car, which had been driven very carefully, a minuscule scratch on the back which I hadn't spotted under the initial mud was charged 200 euro for. The car was covered in tiny scratches, none of which were documented. They clearly don't make a note of them so that they can levy a fine virtually at will. Like everyone I wish I'd read the trustpilot reviews before booking.

I do not recommend anyone to use this company, as with other reviews they look cheap but try any means possible to extort more money from you. At the time of booking my confirmation confirmed not costs other than the guarantee payment which would be refunded on return of the vehicle. Once back in the UK this payment did show on my credit card along with a further charge 129.31 Euros, when I checked I was advised this was for an upgrade to Super CDW, I did not want this it was never mentioned but because I had signed the agreement after weeks of waiting they tell its a legal document and I cant do anything about it. I have now written to the ECRCS which I suggest everyone does to highlight what a bad company they are and to make sure they are investigated for their misleading and dishonest practice.

Do not use this company. This lot do have cheap rates, but you get what you pay for. Surly, disinterested and frankly rude staff. They will find any way to extract more money from you card. They are especially proficient at scamming you for damage you didn鈥檛 cause. At pick up, their damage report stated no damage or scratches at all. On inspection, having walked the best part of 1km to find the car in a car park a long way from the pick up desk, I noticed several scratches all over the car. It鈥檚 difficult to see in the dark and a badly lit car park at night, but I took photos of the whole car with camera flash and returned to the desk to show them the damage which was duly added to the damage report, after having to wait bout 20 minutes. On return, the returns desk people were having a good laugh about me, 鈥?ah this is the fool who took photos of the whole car and every single tiny scratch鈥? I speak fluent Spanish and Catalan but they weren鈥檛 to know this! The guy who then came to inspect the car asked where all the scratches were that I Had added to the damage report at pick up. I explained that they are hard to see in daylight, but that when I had picked up at night, they were clearly visible under the torch on my phone. He shrugged sullenly and signed off the return report as all ok. Two months later, lo and behold, a 鈧?0 charge on my credit card! I have received no notification what this is for, and having contacted both Firefly and DoYouSpain (the website I booked through) I still have no response as to what this charge is for. Thankfully I used my AMEX card to pay and have rung them and they are dealing with it and demanding proof of what the charge is for. The Amex representative said that the cheap car hire firms are the absolute worst when it comes to complaints they get for disputed charges. My advice, avoid Firefly, I have had issues in the past with them, and pay more money for a reputable, honest car hire firm. Hertz should be ashamed of this sister company of theirs!

I travel a lot, hire cars a lot and booked this before checking out reviews. The 'check-in' process was fine, I was offered insurance, but my credit card already covers insurance, so I declined.

I saw a lot of bad reviews so decided to film me inspecting the car and pointing at damage on the car when I arrived at Birmingham airport. Everything went well with the booking and the car was great.

Six weeks after the booking, I received an email from a debt recovery department at hertz saying I had done significant damaged the car and that I needed to pay the exact amount the any normal credit card insurance is for premium (sneaky, as any normal person would pay this over going through insurance hoops). I sent an email off with the video, highlighting the damage already present on the car. A week later followed this up with another email asking for a response. The response was as follows: "Upon review of your email below, we can confirm the matter has been cancelled. Please disregards any future reminders in relation with the above file."

Be smart, you pay for what you get, cover yourself when using this company.

cant put zero for the review !! the nasty EVIL woman at firefly/barcelona airport left us totally stranded with two small children and my newborn grandson (just 5 days ago) as we refused to pay their insurance after already purchasing FULL insurance through bookings.com. we got bookings.com on the phone to explain to her we had already purchased it and after making us wait a further 90 minutes in line- with bookings.com on hold on my phone -to speak to this same evil woman she simply said no i wont speak to them -with a grin on her face…and she said 'also by the way no car for you now!' we were left stranded for 5 hours until we could rearrange a different car costing 3 times what we paid. The children were all very upset and distressed and she just sat there and smiled at us across her counter speaking in spanish to her colleagues who were laughing and looking us all giggling- all because we totally objected to paying the unnecessary 拢160 extra insurance 'for 5 days car hire' and were proving we did NOT have to as we were fully covered already!!! she also refused to give me her name and a managers name and contact details. she said the car insurance we had purchased was not valid in Spain and that bookings had misguided us and that insurance was only valid to use in the uk !!!!! which was a complete lie !! DO NOT BE TEMPTED BY CUT PRICE DEALS- THESE ARE UNDERHANDED SCAMMERS !! and staff are an absolute disgrace who obviously work on commission !!! I eventually got a car from OK cars through a 3rd party online and purchased the 3rd party insurance again -with absolutely no issue from OK CAR RENTAL they said the insurance was absolutely fine with no pressure or demand to purchase theirs direct !! go to OK car rentals not these horrible money grabbers !! I told them the experience i had with firefly and apparently its common knowledge that this is what they do! and they have an extremely bad reputation for basically pressure selling and over selling unnecessary insurance to tired people getting off flights. SHAME ON YOU ALL!!

Avoid them. Even if you clearly tell them you don't want any additional insurance – in my case I was already fully covered, they will sneek in and quickly shove a 6-page contract in front of you. When you get home, and your deposit is not refunded, that's when you get the surprise that actually what you initially (when you were exasperated after waiting for over an hour) was the most expensive car rental in history. I took the cheapest car and had full coverage. This was the most expensive car rental I've had and I am extremely well-travelled. Bunch of crooks. BEWARE!

Hired car from Alicante. On return of car Firefly checked car & said no issue. Just checked credit card & over 拢500 has been taken from my credit card & I've received no reason why. Tried to raise a query on their website and the system states the booking reference does not exist. I've raised an issue with Holiday Autos who I'd booked through but do not trust Firefly. If the costs appear to be too good to be true there's usually a reason. I've been hiring cars for 20 plus years & have heard these stories before but never experienced anything like this before.

OMG I wish I'd read these reviews before choosing these crooks! Nearly everyone here has been charged additional insurance. In my case I was already fully covered through the broker Autoeurope with whom I'd booked the day before. Autoeurope advised me that the only thing I'd be charged for on my credit card would be 拢150 deposit (to be refunded upon return of the car). Like others, I was exasperated with the appalling customer service agent who kept me waiting over an hour – he couldn't remember his PC password. He handed me the keys and asked me to initial the 4-page contract and sign at the end but never mentioned he'd sneakily added additional insurance for 拢101. I just signed without reading it through and got the surprise at home when I saw my bank statement. As you can see, there are several pages of people who've had this done to them. Avoid, avoid, avoid Firefly!!

We gave Firefly the benefit of the doubt after we had used them in June, charges on credit card once we returned but were reimbursed.

We decided to use them again and the same has happened – we have been charged and not sure why once we returned to UK. We booked through Jet 2 Car Hire.

Will not be using them again which is a shame as we go to Spain on a regular basis.

Arrived at Marseille airport to find firefly closed at 9pm. Had to pay for a night in a hotel. Came back in the morning and the only girl on duty said that because I did not pick up my car the day before my contact was void so I had to book at another rental car at full price!
Never use Firefly! It was a big mistake

AVOID AT ALL COST VALENCIA AIRPORT !!! it may be cheap, but expect a long wait, rude and unpleasant staff and an unexpected 拢214 charge on my card for no reason or explanation despite handing it back with a full tank, in the same condition and having taken out the extra full insurance.

We have avoided Firefly since a member of their staff broke down in tears because we would not take up their massively overpriced car insurance. Foolishly we gave them another go in July this year (2019) and it was a big mistake. Without going into a long rant about our personal experience with them, a brief summary is as follows:

We were threatened with being charged for damage to the UNDERSIDE of the front bumper which we did not do and did not see on collection.
We were the 鈥榩ress ganged鈥?into signing to pay 200 Euros to have the car cleaned on return – a run through the car wash and a light vacuum would have been more than enough (wouldn鈥檛 you expect them to do that anyway?)
We were brow beaten into taking out their very expensive insurance when we already have our own.

Avoid like the plague!!

Horrible service. They ask you to create account details when you book the car and nowhere does it say it must be driver that needs to create it themselves. It then automatically books it under that name. Once arriving they said actually had to be driver name despite me showing them it was not mentioned anywhere. They said too bad and we had to pay an extra 96 euros. After getting charged it turned out this was even more than 96 euros as they didnt mention extra taxes they add.

Sneaky horrible company – never use them
