If there was a perfect book discription of what a cowboy builder is, they would be the perfect fit.
My home was built in 1966, not having any repairs done to it since. The doors or disintegrating at its touch, with the occasional door actually falling on my six year old daughter and locking her into the kitchen due to a fault with the door mechanism.
Fortem was all aware of this and sent a contractor out to complete the job. Upon arrival he saw how bad the doors were (literally falling off it hinges and spliting and he prisist to fix it.
At this point I actually asked to speak to management as I was a utter disbelief that they were serious going to try and fix doors that are past the point of being fixed.
The manger was rude and egotistical to say the least.
The contractor idea of fixing the door was to hammer nails into the door now making visibly unappealing. The icing on the cake was after the contractor attempted to fix one door he took the door outside to saw the top of the door at an angle and fixed the door back to the frame. By doing this the door was now unlevel with as massive gap under the door.
The contractor then tried to lie stating that he did not do what was directed above, not being aware that I have cameras outside my house showing him doing exactly what was described
I can go on for hours with horror stories the picture videos and voice recordings of contractor from Fortem coming out to look at the repair to state that they were told to cut corners as much as possible. The sooner Fortem looses thier contract with Birmingham city council the better.
