Great place for people to publish fan-fiction, but it's run by poor management. There are constantly bots spamming erotic advertisements, and they don't even have a report function, only having a support email. Looking at the history of their actions, I doubt I could trust them.

If I could give this site 0 stars, I would. I have been a member of Fanfiction.net since 2002. Over that period, I have had a few issues here and there with them, but nothing too terrible. However, several years back they decided that writers no longer deserved the option of allowing guest reviews or not. I understand not everyone has an account at this site, but wants to review anyway. I also understand that sometimes people can't (or don't want to) log in and will leave an anonymous review. But it's also true that spiteful trolls will hide behind the "guest" cloak to flame or spam writers, and there's nothing they can do about it. Fanfiction.net used to give you the option to disallow guest reviews, but for some reason they took this away. I've been flamed recently by guest reviewers and am really frustrated that there's nothing I can do but delete the flames (and get this, you've only got 36 hours to do this, after which time it's moved out of the moderation queue and is published). This site has gone downhill so badly recently. I'm extremely disgusted with it. Archive of Our Own is so much better.

I've been a member of this website for years and have written over 80 stories. Over the past 12 months, my most predominant fandom has been overtaken by trolls who have left multiple harassing, spammish, insulting reviews and private messages for me. I've reported and blocked any accounts but nothing has been done. I know from reading others' responses to them that I'm not the only one reporting either, which means that there is no master level moderation going on. Due to the prolonged abuse, I am now removing my fics and deleting my account as a whole because apparently that's the only way to keep these trolls from attacking me since staff doesn't want to do their job.

The site is okay but the they could have more attentive admins and I loved it when they used to have a spell check in the document editor. I hope they bring that back.

Some of the works contain adult content (lemons), filter "K->T" if you don't want to see any. Filter "K->K+" if you don't want to see any swears either.

Some stories have adult content, but there are rules and sometimes stories are taken down. Stories can be filtered, so if your kids want to read stories they can.

I've been a member since 2004, but I'd like to express my disappointment as moderation has gone down the drain and there are plenty of submissions that range from simple trolling, out of scope or outright not-safe-for-work.

I use fan fiction to publish all my stories and read my fave ones but the anime freaks (the ones with their nasty smut Fics which is 99% of all anime watchers) and their disgusting fanfics make it go down!!!!!!!!!! I鈥檓 so mad!!!!!!!! I was in the middle of a f-ing chapter for my story when it went down. I checked which area caused it all to go down and guess what?? IT WAS THE RATED M ANIME SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly I would prefer Fanfiction.net than Wattpad because Wattpad is giving me intrusive ads.

This site is upcoming deviantART, because this site's administration is just as bad as the one, which deviantART has.. Fanfiction users can write any garbage they like about other people, including false information and insults, which is damaging their reputation on other sites, because fanfiction administration ignores reports about it, just like deviantART administration does. The only thing I can suggest you is to create your own website or blog where you submit your stories and other type of art, because it appears that any site I know, which is meant for fanfiction stories or other art, has become a bully and liar friendly site, where a friendly user has nothing to see.

This is a great sight for finding well-written fan fiction that crosses numerous genres and media. The site is free of viruses and other malware. Parents should be cautious about what they let their children read, however, because there is mature content on this site.

Although it's somewhat suitable for children, it maay not be suitable for some people's insanity and gemetica erras.

Honestly, fanfiction.net was my first site to end up writing fanfictions.
The pros of the website is that you can post you fics for free and put anything random on your profile. The cool features they had was highlighting, and copy and paste. But to protect the text and idea's of other people's stories, they disabled the highlighting/ copy and paste. 🙁
But you can still do that in Mobile version on desktop! XD
So, I had just listed the cons and I was about to go to the pros which is Private Messaging (only if the other user is roleplaying.)
The site has the perfect place to Private Message to another user. Maybe now I use it to only PM users and update my stories very rarely. Depending on what my schedule is. 😛

The only real issue that Fanfiction.net may pose is the ease at which anyone can read an "M" rated story. As these are stories, there's really no way of warning people what exactly will be in one, so it's easy to stumble across something.

Despite this, there are many, many sites that allow ease of access for the very reason to let users go directly to stories with a more mature content. Basically, the only issue on Fanfiction is to let your child know whether or not it is safe to read a M rated story.

Some stories have questionable content so parents should monitor their children's usage of this website. Many stories are appropriate, and with caution you can avoid running into that kind of material.

It is a good story site with the mild risk of adult descriptions in some of the stories.

FanFiction.Net is a hostfer for fan-written stories other fandoms. Please Note that in some (if not most) jurisdictions the act of publishing and distributing of those stories is forbidden but the laws are usually not enforced as this would mean that their authors would most likely lose their fans.

Adult content is filtered unless explicitely disabled in the filters of the website.
