Doesn't ACTUALLY cover inclemate weather! If I could give 0 stars, I would. The event was not held on the date for which our tickets were purchased due to "the impact of the inclemate weather from Thursday's storm". We were free to exchange our tickets for another date however, Neither of us were able to attend the event on another date offered due to work schedules and prior commitments. (needing to miss the event due to a work conflict is also listed as something that SHOULD have been covered under this insurance policy) I purchased the insurance on these tickets for exactly these reasons but really, this company just has a way out of everything w/ all the little loopholes and exclusions tied up in the fine print and legal jargon. The documents I retrieved and uploaded as proof were nothing but an exercise this company put me through. I would NOT recommend purchasing this company's "insurance", in fact I would advise against it.

I got this "stupid" (waste of money) insurance because I was concerned that one of the 10 people in my party was going to get COVID, and guess what? It was ME! So when I cancelled Gaylord of the Rockies ice skating tickets that I paid $227 for, I thought, "thank GOD" I got the insurance! But when I filed the claim I was told COVID related illness was NOT COVERED! You are kidding me right?

FanShield / Protecht / Markel aka TicketGuardian is like many insurance companies: you're basically paying for the right to argue with them for a refund in the event of a misfortune. They're not in the business of protecting the consumer, they're in the business of taking your money to give you a vessel to argue for refunds and they do all they can to circumvent this.

My wife suffers from Meniere's Disease and though her episodes are rare and have fortunately diminished, she had one on the evening of a concert we wanted to attend. We had both looked forward to this event so it was with great disappointment that we had to accept the fact that she would not be able to attend the show (the disease results in intense dizziness, hearing issues – sometimes permanent – and other symptoms that basically paralyze you until treatment can stabilize you back).

When we reached out to FanShield and explained the reason she couldn't attend, providing receipts and documentation of the medical treatment and follow-up that unfolded as a result of her health incident, these people asked for "proof" the doctor told her not to attend the event. *Given all the documentation provided and their flagrant push-back to save $43.00, this is enough for any of you considering the service to know it is NOT worth it and is just another 'insurance' swindle.*

The super hero behind this concept is Bryan Derbyshire who has this to say about his entrepreneurial endeavor: "We have a couple of flags we fly under. TicketGuardian is the core name and really the name of our B2B side as far as technology goes… That said, because it's an insurance product, we have to have a fully-insured entity that is wholly-owned by TicketGuardian, which is FanShield. FanShield is the brand that you as the consumer would see inside of the checkout flow when you go to buy your ticket because it's a FanShield policy… It is one and the same." (Just an FYI for those who might see marketing under a number of guises).

It's truly unbelievable this company has an A+ rating at BBB and this can only be attributed to its short existence and the fact that many people who face emergencies will likely decide not to waste time fighting for refunds on concert tickets – likely one of the reasons Bryan felt this was a great idea for a business. Bryan's and TicketGuardian's ambitions are getting more exotic: "The company now employs 33 individuals and recently completed an $8M funding round that will help it expand internationally." That was two years ago.

The live music industry was already milking people in the most abusive ways and Bryan found a way to hop on that bandwagon. Given all the issues that have impacted that industry under recent, tragic, health challenges, it's possible companies like this will have time to mull their practices over… but I wouldn't hold my breath and neither should you. Don't wait to experience what we did to complain about this stuff. Simply avoid giving them business and over time the free market will correct this. Don't buy the insurance. That's all you need to do.

Horrible experience. Do not recommend. Had to submit 4 medical notes before they would approve. I was only reimbursed for one ticket when I purchased two.

In a very stressful time in our lives, with the death of a family member, this experience Could Not have been more pleasant, timely, easy, painless. I so appreciated the manner in which our situation was handled. I appreciate even more the message expressing sympathy to our family. Thank you, thank you, for being so kind to work with.

While in the end I did receive my refund, there was a lot of redundancy.
My doctor鈥檚 note said it all but was asked multiple times over to give the same information.

Do not ever use.. When you want to get a refund they want you to jump through hoops to PROVE you are telling the truth.. There is alot of hidden clauses and you will be made the feel like a liar.
I had a operation and could not take part and it was obvious with what op I had I couldn't attend. But they wanted me to get a doctors note to say it.. Not only are the doctors not seeing anyone.. My hospital information should have been enough..
I have read other reviews and this company that I guess is in the USA is fraudulent and should be avoided.

I was really looking forward to our concert, then my husband ended up in the hospital the day of the concert. I had bought the tickets months earlier and forgot about also purchasing the insurance. Three days after the event I stumbled across the original email from Fanfare and submitted my claim and proof. Your representative responded quickly, approved my claim, and gave me a date to expect there refund. It was great. To make it even better, the refund arrived a day sooner than expected. Thank you! I'll definitely need purchasing your coverage for future events!

I added fanshield to a weekend beekeeping school I was going to attend. I am so glad I did! My car broke down forcing me to cancel my classes. I got all my money back! I will definitely use Fanshield again!

Bought the weather insurance for a concert 2 months in advance. Living in upstate New York, I received a do not travel by the DOT and
so they paid for my ticket. Another person living in Rochester was stopped at the thruway entrance and couldn't go – due to an accident on the road – they refused to pay for her ticket. 2 relatives were arriving from Virginia but hit an accident on the road in PA. They wouldn't have made it in time for the concert. Fanshield refused to pay. READ THE WEATHER SECTION VERY CAREFULLY Before purchasing cause the only cause they accept is if the DOT states NO UNNECESSARY TRAVEL or the Roads are closed. First time using this service. Won't use again.

I had a great experience with Fanshield. Helped me out of a jam when I was sick and couldn鈥檛 make it to a concert last year. I only wish that I had insured my tickets for my most recent purchases… 🙁

Tried to see if I could insure my tickets after the fact, but couldn鈥檛. But customer service was still really helpful.

I had a health emergency and had to cancel my tickets to a festival while I was on my way there (across the country). They tried to deny my claim despite me providing all of the necessary documents. They didnt want to accept my doctors note because it didn't specifically say the festival name (it just said I had to return home immediately – days before the festival – and have further tests done). I had to threaten legal action before they honoured the claim. Disgraceful practice.
