Fat Llama

So this is how it Works. You rent an item you have chosen from a photo, but in actual fact the lender posts an item of 鈥?similar鈥?appearance which is also broken.
The recipient informs Fat Llama it is the wrong item and broken. But they state that can鈥檛 be the case as the lender has a photo. ARE YOU GETTING THE PICTURE?
Fat Llama obviously believe their unscrupulous lender and demand payment for an item never received based on the fact they have a picture!

Fat Llama opens the doors to invite immoral, unethical scammers in and not only condone these SCAMs but supports them.

If you like a bit of dodgy dealing this is the place to be. If you rent from here be ready for false accusations because apparently all lenders are honest people and they have a photo, so why wouldn鈥檛 they be?

Be prepared, that nice shiny camera you think you are renting might turn out to be a battered old iron in the box, but the photo shows the camera you always wanted to play with. So be prepared to pay up!

Please avoid this scam and don鈥檛 believe the lender reviews.

Be careful who you trust with your money and ID

Having been using for a while, and when things are good there isn't a problem. When problems arise with a lender/ renter payment issue they cant help.
They claim they have paid out the money and are unable to help if there is a problem with the transaction. In my case the item was booked twice ( within seconds) a technical error gliche in there system.
There response was "once the Lender is paid out, we cannot access the Lender's bank account, so the Lender will need to refund you their earnings for the duplicate transaction."
Totally avoiding there responsibility as we pay/ rent from Fat Lama as the middle person, quite unethical money practises.

I'm a massive fan of the sharing economy and peer-to-peer exchanges. I'm a Airbnb Superhost and rent my car on Turo and take part in home-sharing in a big way. So I'm well used to this kind of thing. Fat Llama is a great idea but the user experience is very disappointing. Fat Lama itself seems like a faceless organisation run by computers with no humans present. They do not respond to emails or messages. There's a phone number on the facebook page that belongs a skip hire company – poor guys over there are pulling there hair out as they can't get it removed! Fat Lama bombard you with pointless text messages telling you… Stefan/Tom/Hannah etc etc is looking for a bike/drill etc but with no lead. There's nothing you can do with the info yet the meaningless text messages just keep on coming! There's no renters out there, I have snowboards, bike, drills and tools listed but nothing ever gets rented.
Because the company are so aloof you wouldn't want to rent out anything you're precious about. Because if one of your items were to get damaged or not returned there's nowhere to turn as Fat Lama are uncontactable.
It's a shame because it really is a great idea, but Fat Llama just aren't doing it right.
