I got the SBA Loan for my bussiness three months ago. My funds immidiatelly went to being held by this bank without any specific reasons. I tried everything, contacting the bank, going to the bank, getting a lawyer still NOTHING. Not to mention that for SBA it looks like I have taken the money, and its been almost more than 3 months, and I havent used a single dollar for my bussiness. My bussiness is geting worse, and I am watching all these funds, and dont have an access to it. It always go back to some person Barbara who is ''in charge'' of my funds. I got her phone number, which by the way she never answers. I reached out to her only once (after repeatedly calling like 40 times), where she didnt even introduced herself, just immidiate raise of voice, and threat. Threat? Please I dont know where else to go, who to talk to, what should I even do? Not to mention that bank hasn't called me not even once for these 3 months.

I banked with Fifth Third Bank for many years but closed my account this month after being lied to. I had a 5-year IRA which matured so I looked for another bank with a decent interest rate. I found that Navy Federal Credit Union offered the highest rate. I made an appointment at my local Fifth Third branch to transfer the funds. When I suggested that Fifth Third bank wire transfer the funds to my new account at Navy Federal I was told that they would overnight the funds and I could save the bank wire transfer fee so I agreed. I checked frequently with Navy Federal to verify that they had received the funds but they had not. Navy Federal asked for the tracking number so I called Fifth Third to obtain it. The girl at my local branch said she would call me back. When she called she told me that the bank NEVER overnights. This was the same girl who had told me to overnight the funds to save the fee. So, I asked her if she remembered telling me that and she said that yes she did. This lie would have cost me $1,800 in interest over the next 12 months. So I told her I would probably sue the bank and that ended our conversation. Fortunately, Navy Federal believed me and gave me the rate which was quoted even though rates had dropped to 0.25%. The funds were sent by snail mail and took 10 days to arrive. It's obvious that Fifth Third wanted to use my money as though it was their own. How can anyone deal with such a dishonest bank?

I am glad to have finally found a bank that does not give me any headaches or major problems. I have had the worst luck with banks lately, so having to close and open accounts has been frustrating to say the least. I took a chance with Fifth Third because I just needed a simple checking and savings account! It has been so easy understanding my transactions, transferring money between accounts, and using my chip enabled debit card. Listen, EVERY bank has their pros and cons, but it is safe to say that Fifth Third makes the banking process a lot simpler than other banks. I do not like having to argue with a bank about anything.

Fifth Third Bank has many banking options available for people of any income level. I like when banks offer free checking/savings because there are many people that cannot afford excessive banking fees if they do not have much income coming in to begin with. During this time of uncertainty with COVID-19, many people have lost their main source of income or have reduced income, so I appreciate Fifth Third for offering affordable banking options.

I know that some people, even in the 21st century, hate banks and do not have a bank account for whatever reason. However, the truth is that we all need one! Banking online makes life a lot easier most of the time. I have not had any major issues with Fifth Third so far and I sincerely hope I never will. I highly recommend Fifth Third Bank if you need a free checking account or if you just want a more simplistic banking process! XOXO

I have been paying down my home mortgage with the intention of having it completely paid now. Instead 53 failure to post a $15,000 payment to reduce my principal has stopped me in my tracks. They showed the payment received on my account but never reduced the principal and are showing a balance due much higher than it should be. My bank offered to prove they cashed the check by providing a copy, but they never responded to the bank. Despite repeated phone calls and written complaints to the office of the president I am getting nothing but a runaround. Basically they have stolen $15,000 from me. Oh and of course they are keeping me from paying the loan off as I cannot get a true payoff amount. And most likely charging interest for money I do not owe them.

I've been with 53 since 2013 and have been through a lot with them. In 2016 I was living out of state for an internship, and after I filed a fraud report on my credit card and needed a new one sent to me, the fraud team repeatedly refused to release the hold until i threatened to take my money out. Massive inconvenience.

In 2018, I was travelling to Canada for a weekend and gave them notice of my travels beforehand. When going to buy a girl coffee who I hadn't seen in a long time, my card was declined and flagged for fraud. Customer support told me that they could release it, but they needed a code from my phone (despite having NO access to my phone as I was out of the country). Had I not been with friends, I would not have had access to any money due to Fifth Third. They never apologised for this serious inconvenience.

Most recently, they have locked me out of my login and then locked me out of sending money electronically. I've been a loyal customer but lost my patience with not being able to access my money, features missing from the app (eg pots feature in Monzo). As someone who has lived in the UK for over a year, perhaps 5/3 could learn a lot from the great service and innovation of banks in the UK.

Fifth Third is certainly NOT "the only bank you will ever need", trust me it is the LAST BANK YOU WOULD EVER WANT! I thought only retailers used bait and switch–not so. I was told that I could get a home equity line of credit of $25,000.00 or less without a document request. It was a lie. Underwriting hit me with a litany of requests. I was not happy but I fulfilled each and everyone of them even the loan officer said so. My credit score was 826 and my net worth just shy of one million dollars. They insisted on appraising my my $335,000.00 home, I guess to see if it was enough collateral to cover the $25,000.00?
I am convinced they do not want to loan money at the current rates. Rather than needing to defend turning down a worthy application they sent me a second document request. It included asking for a copy of every page of my annuities. I should have followed my own advice about borrowing from banks. Chapter 4 of my book Revolutionary Retailing.

Horrible!!! Customer Service is horrible. I called and received different information about an issue I had 3 times!!! They have a track record of inaccurate credit reporting. Changed my credit report standing 3 times and I am still fighting my case. They do not attempt to help their customers. Loads of fees and they are always changing their policies. Stay Away!!!鈥?

While all banks are riddled with rules, Fifth-Third is more interested in enforcing them at all cost than solving your problems.

I deposited a cashiers check from a close bank and they did not tell me it would take 10 days to clear. I would have happily gotten cash or wired the money. But my lack of knowledges was not their concern. Not only did they bounce my payroll but when I called to explain that I had no idea they would hold my money for so long and asked them to call the branch manager of the bank where the cashiers check came from and asked
them to help me- a supervisor who was unavailable at the time and whom I left a lengthy message for didn't even bother to return my call.

And then when I called others I knew through my husband's business they too could not help me lift the hold and said they could not promise more would not be returned.

They are not at all a customer-centric bank. They are focused on meeting their needs and not that of their customers. So if you are a small business don't bank there. You can do better. While Huntington Bank has far fewer locations, they, at the moment, seem more interested in helping business owners.

Absolutely horrible service, their staff has no idea how to take care or treat the customer and they will charge you for everything. The person I spoke to Dan who claimed he's the supervisor – Employee # DDRODS92. We closed the account for bad service, and they continue to send bills, the last final payment was paid and then they send another bill for $1.00. Tried getting that removed, NOT. I do not recommend this bank. I would give them a ZERO if it allowed me to.

They will nickel and dime you to death. Additionally, slap on penalties when things have actually been paid by bank-to-bank checks. They cannot even count–February has 28 days 3/4 of the time.

I just opened an account and so far so good. They seem very professional and competent enough. I'm certainly giving them a go. John scott

Whenever I've gone into their branches, the service has been fast and courteous. Lot of locations in the IN-OH-MI areas.

It's a bank, very reputable and nothing at all that would be offensive to children (though what are they doing with online banking anyway?)

Opened a business account with $50.00 but it sat dormant for several months. Had unauthorized charged of $19.95 each come in and the bank charged me $200.00 in overdraft fees. I talked to one officer at one branch. She couldn't issue a refund and told me I had to go to the issuing bank. The manager at that bank was in meetings all day and couldn't see me, so I am stuck. I don't have the money to put in the account to make it come to a zero balance and they won't close the account. I never received a statement was totally clueless as to these charges since the account was really supposed to be dormant. I feel that this is totally unfair and unethical to the customer. I am outraged that this can happen and feel I have been unjustly treated.

Generally good site, low security for log-on, sometimes slow on updating on-line account info, but quick to charge overdrafts even to point of time-of -day of transaction.

I too have been a customer for over 10 years. I've enjoyed the hometown feel of the branch I use most often. However I recently had an issue with a fee charged to me when I ran into a policy the bank had changed. Granted I probably should have known they changed the policy, however I did not and when I went to my "hometown" branch I was given a corporate line. I was told that in these difficult economic times the corporation has taken the control away from the branch managers and that even though I've been a good customer with both personal and business accounts, that they could not credit this fee.

I understand that all organizations must change policies from time to time. But here is an issue where they have taken away the control of the local branch manager to see the situation for what it is. My branch manager told me she would perform this credit if she could, but when she asked to do it, her boss told her NO.

So, sadly, I now have a bank that is more corporate than hometown. 5/3 Bank has lost the appeal that made me enjoy being a customer.
