I discussed my concerns and why we were upset with their company. Overall after our discussion i came away feeling much better about what had happened. Would i use this company again? Maybe. For a solid state drive probably not, but for a physical hard drive i would give them a second shot.

They were very quick with diagnostics and were able to quote me and get started right away. They kept me well informed along the way and that helped to ease my concerns. I was having issues with a very troublesome Western Digital Passport but they were determined and went extra mile and refused to give up on saving my drive. We briefed them on the issue and if we could recover the files and sure they gave us directions which were already on the site and they matched every bit thus the site is credible and can be accounted for. After we hang up. We decided to again check on the ease of using the site and it was good. Every bit of information disseminated was accurate as we had to confirm when we took the phone. It is amazing I have to say. Anyone out there who has lost his or her data come to these guys they are good at whatever they do.

To get started, they wanted $ 355.06 plus tax (because they were using a local agent to ship if for me I have to pay tax) and $ 2,594.69 when the data was recovered.
A week later I got a notice that they were starting the recovery, but they needed to purchase parts to put on the old drive so as to make the recovery. This angered me because at that price, experts should know what would be involved in recovering the data. Reluctantly I agreed to pay.
I then wrote several times asking why it was taking weeks to recover the data. They replied that the data was recovered, but I would need to buy a new hard drive to transfer the data to. I told them that I had dozens of hard drives and I would send them one.
They told me that they had no way of mounting a drive if I sent them one of my own. THIS WAS INCREDIBLE.
I send them a spare hard drive and a USB adapter that they could plug into a USB port to read the drive.
A week later they asked me if I had sent the drive yet. When I said I sent it an hour after taking to them, they said they would check with their receiving. Evidently they found it.
Then they wanted me to sign a form saying that they had recovered my data and everything was in good order. I refused to sign it because I had not received the data back. They then shipped me the drive but had lost my adapter.
The drive was password protected. They refused to give me the password until I signed the release. I refused to sign the release until I saw the data.
In the mean time, the rep I was working with was fired.
The supervisor agreed to reimburse me for the adapter just as soon as I signed the release.
It is now headed for court.

There were too many pics and files in it, and my boss was anxious about it.

I got in touch with them once again! They were fantastic, Yet again! They gave me a quote on how much it would be to fix it and get all my files back. As always, It was a great price! How could I pass it up? I sent them my external, And they were amazing with keeping in touch with me and letting me know how it was going. After about 3 days they informed me that they had shipped my external back to me and it should arrive within two days. It arrived a day later!
I was so pleased with the level of professionalism that always have when dealing with valuables. They were quick to respond to any and all questions that I had. They were quick to fix and ship my hard drive. It was over all a great experience as it was the last time! Since the catastrophic experience I was personally contacted by high level managers who showed personal interest in not only correcting the past experience but providing excellent service going forward. It did take me some time to reach them but once I did, the company has been professional, efficient, and, most importantly, very polite. It seems they are taking measures to address the gap and have uniformly good service.
Based on this I am updating my review to reflect that on average, the experience has been good (very bad beginning and a good end). I recommend file retrieval.

My most recent experience felt like I was talking to a used cars salesman. If a customer is willing to pay an outrageous sum and sign off their credit card information without knowing what they are agreeing to or signing then the experience goes smoothly.
I turned in my laptop and received a timely diagnostic. During the first diagnostic I was told there was a high chance the laptop was damaged beyond repair but the company did not asses the laptop in detail since they specialized in data recovery. This sounded fair.
After two weeks I received a call from the first representative, a very friendly and professional contact. I was waiting for a final price from him when a second representative took my case. This person was aggressively pushing for a sale using hyperbole and unfounded guarantees. He even said my laptop was now turning on and showed no issues when all previous representatives had been honest with a different diagnostic. It was clear he was more interested in taking my credit card information than in delivering a professional service. During the call he did not know the model of the year of the device. He first said my laptop was in SanFrancisco while he was in Ohio and later said he spoke with an engineer in Ohio who had my laptop.
We had found a final price when when i began asking about the companies policies in the off chance things don't go 100% (as has been the case with some of the reviews on this page).The representative got very aggressive, raising his tone of voice, speaking faster and sounding distressed (saying things like "are you kidding me!"). I had my credit card in hand when I asked him to send me information on the terms I was agreeing to (final price, total charges, guarantees, etc.). Even restaurants and clothing stores have this printed on the receipt. If this is a transparent trustworthy company, what is so threatening about sharing the policies both customers and company are bound to when payment is made?
Long story short, when I asked to know what i was paying for in writing the representative screamed "Are you kidding me, have a nice day, bye" as he hung up the phone on me.
The once respect I had for this company is completely deleted. Judging by other bad experiences on this thread, at this moment I would not trust them with my credit card and much less with my device.
