This concerns TeleCheck – please see http://telecheck.pissedconsumer.com/. TeleCheck has been around at least 35 years. They used to be a very useful company allowing merchants to safely accept checks, back in the days when it took a week or more to find out a check you accepted wasn't good. I've good credit, I've 2 credit cards, a debit card and 2 checking accounts. I haven't bounced a check in 30+ years. However, I attempted to purchase an item on line using the checking account I least use (with the most money) and it was declined by telecheck. It was the middle of the night, the purchase was over $200, so I figured that might have been why, so I just switched to my credit card and did internal moving of monies. Then a second time I was refused, for under $100, but I didn't have time to call, so again I just moved my money around. The third – sixth times happened in one night, on Amazon, so at 4am I'm on the phone with telecheck speaking with someone who sounds like a computer and claimed his name was Colt. I had to enter my check info – routing number, account number 3 times along with other info before I even got to the robotic Colt, then I again had to give him the same info. It said my check is denied because they have no info on the account. That's it, that's the only reason. Not that there is anything negative on the account, nothing negative on me, just no info on the account. This account was opened in the late 1970's or early '80's, there have been no problems with it – so why should they have any info on it. I understand the difficulty of getting credit when you haven't had any, but this is a checking account. TeleCheck should find a better way or go the way of the dinosaur.
