Frankfurt Airport

This is the 1st time since many years
聽to travel to and from Frankfurt airport. What an unpleasant and unprofessional experience. One can't help but have historical events come to mind. Although, I must say that traveling through Cologne on several occassions in 2019 was an entire different experience. Flying-in, immigration was a real problem. Official passport not accepted, no problem, but then personal passport being scrutinized after being aware of the official passport. Funny events.
Today (Oct 9 2020), I was the only person at security and my entire bag was searched. Bottle with a few ml of water being held up and a finger movement indicating 'no, no' (yes love being treated like a 2-year old, very curtious – in quite some airports the limited amount is allowed), all the while a refusal to speak any English. Police was called in and the search continued. Things taken out of different places in the backpack all dumped into the tray. 6 to 7 people present. Then suddenly without any communication it was left there. Wasn't sure if I was okay to go or it now had to be scanned again. Giggles all the while from a few personnel members who deemed this likely to be of great entertainment. No one answered, until someone else stepped in with limited English skills. Their entertainment of unloading my belongings was over and they now were enjoying the hassle and aggravation of me repacking my bag.
SHAME ON YOU for this most unprofessional behavior and for acting like an uneducated bunch incapable or unwilling to communicate in the global/airport language!

Avoid Germany all together not just Frankfurt airport. There are so many other European countries with friendly people to connect or visit.

Stepson was travelling to Canada (22/09/20) stoping at Germany to change planes. He flew from Edinburgh without any problems. He had the right documents required. Gets off the plane at this airport only for them to say he didn鈥檛 have the right documentation and was told they wouldn鈥檛 let him on the plane. What documents did they require?? He asked for help, (he has adhd and mental health issues). He received no help and basically left to it. He phoned us and we had to book him a flight home (拢374). Unfortunately he had to sleep in the airport until his flight at 10.10am the next morning. Altogether we have lost 拢1394.20 pounds. Absolutely furious. Why was he able to fly from Edinburgh? What documents did Germany require? I had to give this airport 1 star how ever I genuinely would give it anything. Absolute disgrace…..馃槨馃槨馃槨

Arrogant, rude and violent. Specially the airport police. I had an argentinian passport they were racist, when I complained, he said I don't know why you complain I know how police treats people in your country.
I asked them help about how to use the public phone with a credit card, instead of helping me, he said "maybe you don't have credit"!!! How rude!

Awful. Unfirendly personell. Intruding security checks performed without any consent whatsoever. Easy to tell the people don't enjoy working there.

Lovely airport+facilities. Was transiting here from the UK.
Felt uncomfortable at security though馃槙. It may be the norm to do a body search after going through x-ray… I just don't know馃し鈥嶁檧锔?
Felt it was intrusive and my consent wasn't obtained before the 'head massage' and feeling underneath my wig. I know they are the police and may be used to giving orders, but there could have been better communication…
But thanks to the lovely African lady who came out and told the officer that I was simply wearing a hair extension… Guess despite it being the year 2020 there are a few remnant souls who don't know what a wig is馃し鈥嶁檧锔? Funny enough the officer was female馃う鈥嶁檧锔?br />
So, to all lovely chocolate girls out there who put on wigs and hair extensions, maybe opt for an all-natural hairstyle while transiting through this airport馃槄馃槄

Very disappointing smoking lounge area at the airport .. if they care about the discipline and order so much how can they let this are so dirty messy and absolutely disgusting…
They should really change the whole area and add some new furniture.
Really a shame this should be in the way of the whole image of the airport.

We missed our Air dolomiti flight to Turin because Fraport indicated departure 1650 instead of 1430. With no remaining flights left to turin within the day, we were out on a flight the next day and Fraport refused to compensate for our accommodation and lost time due to their error. Their stadd have also been irresponsible, saying the error was due to Air dolomiti and asked us to check with Air dolomiti on claims. When we ask for proof of evidence so we can take it to Air dolomiti we're given a totally unrelated response and angry reply that the fault is Lufthansa / Air dolomiti's.
Such poor customer service and lack of responsibility. I would give zero stars and never return if I could.

After a long flight from Peru to Chile to Frankfurt we were treated like convicts and animals. At immigration we were shouted at aggressively and after immigration were told we were not able to get our luggage. There was no reason, just simply were not allowed to collect our luggage. We had a next day flight out of Frankfurt so had to sleep on the floor as the security said. During hand luggage checks we were frisk searched and laughed at by about 6 staff standing around repeating what we were saying and laughing. Extremely unprofessional staff and highly untrained at their job. These guys need to go from their jobs and find something more suitable like working for the German circus.
I thought Peru was dangerous and not pleasant towards foreigners but Frankfurt just totally eclipsed Peru in every way possible.
Very aggressive people with attitudes that stink and wonder how these guys are employed in this area.

The rudest and most miserable staff i ever met

This is the worst airport security I have ever been through. The staff were arrogant abusive and rude. No attempt was made to deal with an exceptionally abusive member of staff. An appalling experience

I wish I could put 0 stars… Agree with everything said in other reviews about security process at Frankfurt airport. By far the worst in the world. Nobody even comes close by being that bad.
It feels that they intentionally hire the most worthless, rude and stupid people to work at security checkpoints, and then train them daily to become even worse and more worthless.
Last week I came to the gate one hour prior to the departure in Terminal 2 and missed my flight, because of security line. They only had two flights to check, and it took me 60 minutes to go through that line. As a result I lost the entire ticket (250 EUR value). Welcome to Fraport!
I fly through that airport at least 2-3 times a month, and every time it's a challenge, sometimes it is a disaster. If management of the security is not blind, they shall see the issue and do something about it. As a starting point, they shall go travel to ANY other airport in the world, and see how security works there.

Absolutely disgusted by the attitude and the behavior of staff at security!!! Highly skilled in being ignorant, rude and disrespectful. I cannot believe what I have witnessed today. Complete humiliation. This discourteous behavior of the staff caused us to miss our flight on purpose!! They delayed our security check for 1 hour!!!! And there was nothing in our bags!!!! Complete nonsense! We had been waiting on the airport for nearly 5 hours and these staff members purposely delayed us. It was like a circus or some kind of thriller I couldn't believe my eyes at how they were treating us. Astonished… utterly shocked. They should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT FLY THROUGH FRANKFURT WITH RYANAIR, I REPEAT, DO NOT FLY THROUGH FRANKFURT WITH RYANAIR OR ANY OTHER COMPANY. GERMANS ARE HORRIBLE, DISTURBING HUMAN BEINGS!!!! I guess Hitler blood remains in them….. Absolutely vial behavior ???

I have to travel through Fraport every 4 – 6 weeks, but if I could use an alternative I would. The airport itself is pleasant enough with wide open spaces, decent shopping & food alternatives, and a good selection of routes. However the security procedures and personnel are an entirely different story.

I know to my cost you need to allow at least 1 1/2 hours to get through security. Fraport security operates most inefficiently by being individually at each gate rather than en masse when you get to departures. Two-thirds of the staff are simply standing around ignoring the pleading looks of the lengthening queue to open another channel, meaning passengers regularly miss flights despite allowing what should be sufficient time. And if you are unlucky enough to be body searched (I travel weekly, so know everything required to sail through security, but not at Fraport…) be prepared for some rather invasive hands.

Unfortunately I have no choice but to use Fraport; but believe me, if I could use a realistic alternative (Hahn is too far away) I would never use them again.

Frankfurt security suck!
Rude arrogant, and humiliating experience with the staff that operate there.
Hi tech scanners installed but you still have to endure a very Long personal shake down, Is this a result of Pan-Am incident years ago?
I created a fuss with great displeasure with of my personal body search, to then be met by an arrogant young armed German police man talking to me with a condescending arrogant tone and treating me like a 3rd class citizen.
As I voiced and complained about this personal search, this made me a target for have further interrogation clearly.

Avoid this airport at all costs.

Worst airport for transit. Security lines are bad. The security folks do everything in their power to slow the process. The do body checks eventhough the scanners do not show any issues. Many people missed connections. The airport employees are rude and racists

Worst airport ever. Why is there security control for a connecting flight? Staff in polite and inefficient. Avoid at all cost!!

Beware of the security personnel at Frankfurt airport. The words "please", "we're sorry", "thank you", are not part of their vocabulary. My partner and I were subjected to humiliating body searches in public. The security personnel were rude and abusive. When we insisted on being treated with dignity, the police were summoned and we were forced to submit to their humiliations. We will never set foot in Germany again.

I first had to go through full body scan and then without even notifying me or bringing me to a separate room or something or even asking me if I wanted a more private room, the security staff started patting me down front and then I had to turn and the back . It felt like I was molested. She did this in front of everyone else. I felt like she could鈥檝e offered me a separate place as I am a woman and a hijab wearing person. I always get scanned by a machine or when it bleeps they put me through a full body scan. If they do this full body search I would rather they notify and ask me if I want a more private place to do this. In other countries they offer this option or they don鈥檛 do this full body search at the airport.

Just awful 60 minutes to get thru security but very quiet only 1 cray unit working and the people doing the checks never seen people work so slow.
Never again come here

It's just quite unbelievable how amateurish the transit process in Frankfurt operates… for years, if not decades
1. The is no queue for business/first class passengers, i.e. even if you had a week of working abroad (in this case Chennai) you still have to wait in line with economy passengers for up to one hour
2. Processing staff are "snobbish", don't reply to questions and do "an extra slow" if challenged
3. Nobody really in charge to monitor the process and help/organise the absolute chaos – this morning about 200 people in the transit second security check
4. Security scanners set to sensitive, i.e. flagging up every tiny little bracelet and watches that passengers were specifically told NOT to remove, requiring repeated personal handling/body checks

A total disaster in logistics and far too much human control still who are exercising undue control in a process that should operate like clockwork to facilitate travelling and not hampering it. Resulted in nearly missing the connecting flight and causing lots of ancillary problems.

Does not even deserve one star. Appalling airport. The treatment by customs of the elderly in our party was terrifying. Carting them off into side rooms for examinations that should only have been carried out by a Doctor.

please never travel with Frankfurt airport

If you have another option don't fly through Frankfurt airport. It is probably the worst airport I have ever travelled through. Getting to the gate more than one hour before the departure time means nothing as the staff move at the slowest place I have ever seen. There were more people 'working' on each security line than usual however it took more than 5 minutes to process each person, standing around doing nothing seemed to be the priority.

Wow. I have travelled to many destinations around the world and NEVER have I been to one so terrible in my life. Flying from china to Birmingham me and my mother had to stop off at Frankfurt. With no notification we arrived to our flight being cancelled. Apparently they all knew of a strike but didnt organise anything. Once arrived we got told our flight was still on, then off, then on, then had to stay in a line thinking it was still on with it not moving for one hour with no staff at the counter, no help to be given. To then be told we had to wait 14 hours for our next flight. So with the worst service and guidance we then waited at our 'new gate' on an uncomfortable seat for 14 hours. When asking for help had the worse and rudest responses. We asked security if it was ok to go outside in a tired but normal way, their response was 'in germany we say hello first.' in a blunt tone. Excuse me? I've just had 3 days of travel, i dont need your abuse just give me the answer so i can move on. They gave us a 'meal ticket' for 10 euro, over 14hours, baring in mind a bottle of water is 5 euro and a sandwich is 11euro. No where to sleep or rest only really uncomfortable seating areas with a charging system which is broken at every area. After waiting 14 hours at the given gate on our ticket we then realized the board had changed with no announcement. We then had to travel up to a different gate very confused and asked if it was right. They bluntly said you should check as it changes due to the strike. HOW DID WE KNOW NO ONE TOLD US. PEOPLE WILL MISS THEIR ONLY FLIGHT BECAUSE NO ONE TOLD US. We waited at the new gate, asked us to line up for boarding. Stamped us then DIDNT BOARD. Didnt even tell us what to do, we all sort of confusingly went and sat back down. We had absolutely no idea what to do, to blame the strike is fine in terms of low staff, but it was only the cabin crew, NOT THE SERVICE CREW. Atleast inform the PAYING customers of whatever information you have. Absolutely useless airline, avoid like the plague. Whenever we questioned what was going on 'its a strike mam', well yes. But you had weeks to prep this, organise different airline flights to get these knackered people home. You could move abit quicker, look like youre trying to help. not leave everyone in the dark. I have booked to go to Germany in the year, I have literally just cancelled it due to it flying to Frankfurt. Close this place down, its run by sloths.

P.s. I just to found out now.. They've also lost our luggage haha! So my anger never ends. A stop off of a 1hr trip home from an already long journey, turned into a 15hr nightmare.
