I had a fantastic experience at GenPsych Livingston. I personally went down the partial care / mental health iop track and I cannot recommend this center enough as a safe and constructive place for recovery. The tools are all there for someone to succeed, but it is also up to the individual to put in the work towards recovery. Most of the staff is fantastic and have their own styles of facilitating groups. It is an excellent place for group therapy and for providing structure when you鈥檙e building up from rock bottom. Thank you GenPsych!

The DBT program saved my life, its the only DBT I鈥檝e ever done where I鈥檝e been able to actually use the skills when I leave program. My therapist was Manny but I had a really great experience with all of the therapists there. Whenever I meet someone struggling I tell them to go to GenPsych!!

I was out of medication and had an emergency that left my medication not a priority because I was there for so many others. I called the office this past Friday and left a message. I then called again Monday and left 2 detailed messages in two different voicemails. No call back. They were aware I had no medication left and could not get there during their hours. I called this morning and Kerrie answered from the main office and said no doctors would talk to me because they are in meetings and won't answer, and refused to take a message. She said I need to be seen there's nothing else she can do. I stated I had an emergency. She just didn't care. I then called back and asked for her name and 10 minutes later, I had the mental health facility call me back. The front desk receptionist was one that didn't call me back. But she did today. She said she couldn't leave a message for the doctor. He wasn't in. And she couldn't get anything called in. I HAVE to be seen. I asked to speak to the director and she said she was in multiple meetings and could not talk to me. When I also asked if she can give me Kerry's last name to report, she said it is policy she can't. Yet she gave me the therapist I've never seens information the last time I was seen and also both doctors. So what is different for a last name of a receptionist? I had work during the hours. I called out of work and went in and the doctor let me know he was there at 9:43am when I spoke to the front desk and that it should have been put through or a message should have been taken. I was VERY upset, and they tried to use my "no medication" as an excuse, but wouldn't you be? No call backs. Nothing. They treated me like I was a child, and spoke down to me, all but the amazing doctor I saw. And guess what? When I said I was reporting them, who shows up during their busy schedule? The director. I called the main number and asked Kerry for her full name. She put me on hold and never picked back up. I called 7 times after. I know excessive but I wanted to prove that every single one of those times I called, she picked up and hung up. The director said there is no need to fire someone that does that, just will retrain. Does anyone think retraining someone who hangs up on mental health patients is appropriate? I think that is taken too lightly. People are mentally ill who come here and this can cause a death, it can cause so much. It worries me as I come from a family who suffers from mental health and how you treat your patients is important. Oh, and I did try to give the director a hug and she rudely said no "boundaries" in a really rude and unwelcoming manner. I then went to the main office because I wanted to explain to Kerry why I was upset. I was very calm by then, not crying or upset anymore. . By the time I got there the director already ran over and moved Kerry so I couldn't speak with her. I called to report this matter from there so the director could be available. She then said I have to leave the premises. When we left and were walking outside I asked how she can be a director and tolerate this. She said she's been in this field for a long time and can now tell the difference between mental health and crazy. And looked at me and walked away. A director. Her name is Linda Mullin. These facilities are so important due to so much. Outbursts of all kinds are done by mentally ill because of mistreatment and ignorance. This is one of them and should be addressed immediately.

I had a crisis with anxiety/depression and realized I needed more help than standard counseling. I was at genpsych years ago and it was an excellent place, so I went back for partial and IOP.

The place is now mostly dedicated to substance abuse. You get steered into that program without any input from you. They test everyone for all drugs. I was placed into the substance abuse side. They milked my insurance company and me for every dime. The drug testing is $600 3x a week and you have no choice addict or not. The IOP is $350/day!!! No wonder they want to keep you.

I had to RTW and they wouldn't sign me out so I couldn't go back to work and get off of STD. I was forced to go to detox to detox me from drugs THEY HAD BEEN PRESCRIBING to me for 7 years. At least the detox facility signed me back to work. There was no other way to get signed back. They keep you under their money grabbing thumb.

They did absolutey nothing to help with my anxiety/depression. Anytime I tried to steer my counseling back to my problem I got the "oh, you're in denial. It's your addiction causing this." I ended up more anxious and depressed than I was before going in. Terrible experience and they don't listen to you. When you try to leave they do everything possible to keep you in, including holding you hostage to your short term disability. You can't go back to work unless they sign you back…

Wasted 3 months of trying to get help for my real problem.

DO NOT GO HERE unless the court forces you to go. I went of my own volition. If I can save one anxious/depressed person from this place, this review will make me very satisfied.

If I could give this facility a negative rating I would. I had been seeing a doctor at this facility for medication management but recently left due to the doctor leaving and the facility unable to provide a new doctor to manage my medication for another three months. They didn't even care that I was all out of my necessary medication. Their response was that I should find a new doctor. The staff was completely unprofessional and incompetent for the most part. It's a sad state of our mental health care system when we have facilities like this in charge of caring for our most vulnerable.

I went to seek mental health counseling of my own accord for a somewhat crisis situation that I knew required more than standard counseling, but not severe enough for inpatient care. I inquired about the IOP program that runs 3 days/week for 3hrs a day. I would be able to attend the evening session without missing too much work which is a huge concern because I'm already in a very difficult financial situation. Dr. A who saw me refused care unless I enrolled in their full time program that runs 5 days/week for 6 hours which would keep me out of work for several days or weeks at their discretion. Additionally this would isolate me from the particular challenge that I am working to overcome. Separating oneself doesn't teach the proper techniques and coping skills to deal with stresses that we encounter in daily life. Unfortunately doctors maintain a practice and fluff their finances by keeping patients ill, but I was looking for recovery and ended up running into a closed door. I couldn't possibly be more dissatisfied.

This past May my family was struggling with issues with our teenage daughter. We ended up at Genpsych where my daughter, my wife and I received therapy to deal with our daughters anxiety and depression. Everyone at Genpsych treated my daughter, and our family with compassion and professionalism. Her primary therapist John Mopper was fantastic in helping our daughter learn skills needed to cope with her anxiety, and provided our family with tools to help deal with issues as they arise. I would recommend Genpsych for anyone who has a child expiriencing mental health issues.

I just completed the 2 week detox program at the Bridgewater Gensych location.聽 I was a little apprehensive in the beginning as this was the first time I had actually considered doing anything like this.聽 It was the first time I was going to attend groups, talk to counselors, and acknowledge my problem with my addiction.聽 I have to say that right from the beginning I really felt accepted by everyone there even the other clients which was very reassuring.聽 It was easy to see that the counselors especially Jacki, and John on the weekends were well educated and knew what they were doing.聽 They were very calm, understanding of my situation and always ready to help with any issues I might be having that day.聽 The nurse practitioner Caryn was always helpful and listened to what was going on and receptive to my needs at the time.聽 As far as the facility its designed to help you get through this difficult time.聽 It has a room with recliners (very comfortable I might add) with a nice big screen TV on the wall.聽 Which was perfect if you might be having a difficult day or need some time to relax.聽 A group room which had a big white board, and another nice TV for showing videos which were always helpful.聽 A room for the nurse that had everything to help you in your recovery.聽 It also has an outside smoking area if you happen to smoke.聽 As far as the program itself it definitely has enough structure to stay clean, or maintain your sobriety while at the same time allowing you to go home every night. They have two doctors that were very respectful to your condition and what you were going through.聽 Gensych will also provide transportation (drivers are really great) and lunch everyday which was takeout so it was actually pretty good, I recommend the chicken cheese steak or the grilled chicken caesar salad.聽 The detox program lasts 2 weeks and it goes fast. Afterwards if you decide you want to continue treatment (which I did) they have a Partial Care program as well as an Intensive Out Patient program with a smooth transition to either.聽 I have to say that everyone there from the director, to the counselors, to even the
secretaries upstairs, were all extremely helpful, and understanding at this very trying time in my life.聽 I can tell you that they probably saved my marriage and most likely my life.聽 I am so thankful for everything they did that I wanted to volunteer my experience with others.聽 If you or anyone you know is going through addiction I would strongly recommend the Gensych detox program as they have everything needed to get you through this very difficult time in your life in a
very calm and comfortable manner while at the same time learning a lot about coping skills to help you get through it and stay clean and sober.
