I went to book a rental and as soon as scan my license, it says suspended and when I contact support, they say they needed to verify me manually which is what the suspension was for. Upon providing a picture of myself holding my license, they denied me. The support person tells me that they can't release details about their verification process for security reasons which makes zero sense. I will be contacting my attorney and filing a suit if I find there is discrimination involved.

Have been using get around for a few years because I can't afford a car, but they have scammed me one too many
Times and I'm never using the service again. They come up with any reason to fine you for insane things that aren't legitimate. Stay away. I'm shocked that they have scammed me so much considering I was a good customer
And spent hundreds on the service. They lose a good customer.

This app is a terrible app. The customer service is poor. I requested to speak to a supervisor and for my account to be deactivated as this is the second time I have been charged inaccurately for faulty charges without the opportunity to dispute. Very disgusted. Use turo or Zipcar! This app sucks! They're full of $#*!. I've hired a lawyer now out of my pocket to handle this matter. I will be reporting this fraudulent company.

Horrible company. Don't waste your time and money with this company they are so unprofessional and rude and don't help you with any problems. They don't have answers to anything. It's a scam of a business. Plus they don't refund you the security deposit.

Getaround is, in fact, a scam. I received an alert from Apple Pay, saying that someone has accessed my account. Then I receive an alert that my bank account has been drained. This is not the first time they have charged my account with out authorization. In the past it was $50 here and there. They did refund those and apologize for the error. This makes number four and has completely drained my bank account. My partner is a server who recently lost her job due to Covid. So finances are already tight. The exact same day my partner lost her job Getaround drains my account. They are a scam. They will steal your money. They will hack your account information. You will be in the same boat as me. This I can promise.

Aside from the cars being unsafe for driving as I'm seeing in a lot of these other reviews. Last Thanksgiving I rented a car from them, they told me that I had caused some sort of damage to the car and they were automatically going to charge me over $500. I didn't make any damages to any vehicle, i did everything that i was supposed to do the proper way and somehow they still TRIED TO CHARGE MY CARD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. This was LAST YEAR 2019. Fast forward today when I get an email about them trying to take the payment off of my card again even though my account has been suspended for a year and they didn't do any investigations on my end to make sure that I didn't cause the damage. Any call that i got was trying to apprehend money that I didn't have and wasn't going to give them. PLEASE use another app. Please don't get scammed like i have. Treat yourself better and do your research. One google search could have told me before i had allowed them to use me. They were going to send this to collections, they were about to FALSELY ruin my credit for years, while we are in a global pandemic. PLEASE don't use GetAround

DO NOT USE. If 0 stars was an option, I'd give it. This is the worst car service I have ever used. I have had terrible experience more than 3 times now. The first time, I had to go to more than 3 cars and wait over 90 minutes to find out that none of them were working meaning I missed a friend's birthday lunch and had to abandon the cars and go back later. I then went back later to find it still wasn't working and wait another 30 minutes before I had any luck and by that point missed another commitment which cost me over 拢80. I was then charge in FULL for the service even though it took 4 cars, over 2 hours of wasted time and lost money on other experiences.

The second time I was charged a ridiculous admin fee which came to over 拢100 on top of the money already spent on the car.

The third time, reviews of the car from other customers had stated there was a warning light that came on every time the car started and the response from getaround/the owner was that they had fixed it. They hadn't. Not only that, but the car stank of weed and I was charged close to an extra 拢300 for congestion charge, which was not stated that it had to be paid in anywhere obvious on the site and considering the collection point was in central London, you'd assume it was sorted, as well as another fine for supposedly driving the wrong way which was a 拢30 fine yet the whole fee came to 拢100 as getaround charge a ludicrous amount for admin which is disgusting. This all happened despite me emailing prior to the fines about the state of the car which I was pretty annoyed about given this was the third time I'd had a bad experience with getaround.

I am absolutely livid that I have spent any money with this company, let alone being charged an extra 拢400+ and losing over 拢100 on missing experiences due to the poor service from this app.

I never write reviews but this has annoyed me beyond belief. I have emailed asking for advice and help on the situation and the response has been rubbish and not good enough. Do not use. Use Turo instead.

Worst experience ever. Owner fabricated a charge and there was nothing I could do about it because everything is virtual. They're simply not set up to run tightly. Took $100 clean out my account with no real merit

This is the most evil company I've ever seen. Their customer service is so defensive and bad and opaque, that it feels designed to steal money from people. Apparently there was an issue with the car being broken into and stolen after I dropped it off, and instead of calling me or providing any sort of customer support line, they simply charged me $800 on my credit card without authorization. For a key!

The charge way more than the rental price illegally even days after the end of the rental. The checkout agreement was signed a bit late because the owner was not reachable when i wanted to hand him the car. Even though the checkout went perfectly with him and the rental closed, I received an email few days after asking me to pay an extra charge for late return with a crazy amount… Please avoid this service and go for classic rental because this company lacks transparency towards its clients…

HORRIBLE
THEY OVERCHARGED MY ACCOUNT
I was supposed to get a refund due to the fact that the care I rented had a flat tire
I was told it would take 10 business days… 10 business days went by I didnt hear anything from them.
I reached out to them multiple times regarding this situation and NOTHING
Like most mobile app companies there is no way to get in contact with them via phone so email is all you can do. After countless emails to the company regarding the reimbursement nothing. NOTHING.
At this point, it's like I'm emailing my self. I checked my account to see if they refunded me the money and they didn't, they actually overcharged me. On the app it shows I was charged 176 on my bank account it says 200. Not to mention GETAROUND doesn't contact you when the car you've rented isn't available… TURO is a bit more expensive but that app runs alot more smoothly than GetAround! Get around is should get shut down! F**K GET AROUND

I rented a car from Getaround when I visited Belgium for two days. I had had great experiences with it in the US, but this one was not okay. There were various issues, like the listing saying the car had AC but the refrigerant had been out for over a year according to reviews. However, the largest issue was the key and the ensuing issues. This was a Hyundai car with a cheap folding key. Although it turned the car on when we first got in, when we turned the key off it fell apart. We reported it to the owner the next morning, and based on internet research this is a known issue due to wear and tear of this key (the car/key is 9 years old).

Because the damage wasn't reported when we first got the car (because the key didn't fall apart until an hour later), we were told we were responsible… despite the many links I sent showing this is a known issue. We were charged 30鈧? 250鈧? AND 170鈧?on top of the rental fee for the car for this wear and tear damage. The company has refused to respond to my multiple requests to discuss and continues to debit my account without permission.

Note that I paid for the additional suggested insurance that limits any damages to 250鈧? and this is with that insurance.

Two of four rentals have been faulty.
One wasn't driveable and had to be left where it was, the other had to be towed away after breaking down. Still battling to get refunds for costs I personally had to pay when arranging a replacement vehicle through them, the AA and Enterprise rent-a-car, which took many phone calls and more than 24 hours.
I will never be using them again and would advise you to pay slightly more elsewhere to avoid the risk.

We were given a dangerous car to drive. The poor maintenance of this vehicle put our safety at risk and because of this, we will not be using Getaround in future. (We hope to at the very least be given a refund, but have still not been contacted by either the owner or Getaround). This rental was abysmal.

1. The car broke down after only 10 miles of our trip. After experiencing several error messages, the car began accelerating without any pressure on the pedal while driving through a tunnel.
2. We attempted to call Getaround only to be met with an engaged line. We then contacted the customer helpline given in the rental information. This turned out to be the AA and they were very helpful and organised roadside assistance.
3. The AA technician found 8 separate preexisting faults with the brakes and engine, deeming it unsafe to drive.
4. We messaged the owner through the app with this information and after 2 days still have not had a reply. We then proceeded to make our own way back across London (a 2-hour trip), and unable to avoid public transport as we are all advised to do where possible during this global pandemic. This is a major reason why we chose to hire a car instead of taking the train to our destination.

There were other issues. Firstly, the car was filthy, with dirt all over the carpets, rubbish left by previous renters and a dashboard caked in dust. The car had evidently not been cleaned for some time. There was also an issue with the car鈥檚 battery capacity being depleted, meaning a 56% charge only had a range of 47 miles (instead of a supposed range of 100 miles according to Renault), and decreased to 27 miles after a 5-mile drive.

The worst app, the worst service, the worst process. How they suck at everything they do is mindblowing to me.

They used me as renter to pay for the wear on someone's vehicle. They didn't care about my story and just took the money from my visa card. Very fraudulent!

I rented a car a month in advance because I needed an SUV to help moving my parents. A few days before the trip, the driver cancelled. I was charged a "renters cancellation fee" and charged the FULL amount for a rental I didn't cancel or get to use. There are no other SUVs available for this weekend, so now I need to go to a traditional car rental place and I paid double the price. Don't ever use this service.

Bad consumer service I have never used my account and is suspended. I tried contacting customers service and I got email back that said contact us through the app please. How we I can not login .we some one finally call it was 4 wks later and they say spend a picture of yourself n drive license and you will be possibly verified and 48 hours. It's a month later and I am still suspended no one contact me back. And I tried to write back to get around and no one responded. I figured they did not want customers.

Booked a car on the 26/06 for 3 days. Had also paid congestion charge to cross London (拢30). Turned up at 8.30am on the 26/06 to pick up the car to reach my destination where I was expected. Couldn't unlock the car after 10 attempts.
Called Getaround who gave me 2 crap options: speak with the owner or cancel the booking. I spoke with the owner and same outcome, no help at all and the owner eventually cancelled the booking.
Both Getaround and the owner told me that the battery was dead following checks they did remotely hence car couldn't be unlocked.
I asked them whether or not cars are regularly check to avoid that kind of issue. Answer was that all was fine with the car during previous bookings and that they didn't know what happened with the battery. So Getaround and the owner, were able to tell me that the battery is dead remotely over the phone when I try to unlock the car at 8.30am but they cannot check that the car battery is ok between bookings….? Further they cannot send someone on site to help me out? joke….
But on top of the technology and technical issue and its management the level of service provided to my issue was absolutely inexistent. At 8.45am my booking done 3 weeks ago was cancelled and I was stuck at the picking location without any solutions!
So I had to deal with the whole situation myself and I ended up hiring a zipcar flex as an emergency solution to fulfil my obligations. Obviously I then complained via email and the app about the whole situation and requested to be refunded for the congestion charge (30拢) and the new rental cost from zipcar (216拢).
Getaround replied I had to request TFL refund myself (reading their website they don't refund) and that they couldn鈥檛 refund the cost of rental of another company. I can understand the latter but in this case why didn鈥檛 Getaround provide the initial service I have paid for? They had the option to find me a replacement car themselve or send someone to fix the battery or whatever isn鈥檛 it 鈥? But they chose not helping at all and let me dealt with the situation myself. After all, they finally offered me a 40拢 credit鈥?br />
Getaround, do you really think I want to book a car again with your company after this experience? I have started to deal with this issue the 26/06 and I am still dealing with it as of today so I don't think a 40拢 credit is a fair compensation鈥?
At the end, if you don鈥檛 have any issue, the service is probably great for a fair price. However if you have an issue the service provided is awful and this is usually how you can rate a rental company and in this case it would be a 0 star if I could.

I have hired a few cars from Getaround and they were fine – it was an easy process to join and start driving.

BUT if you have any problems whatsoever, it's practically impossible to get in touch with them. There is no phone number. If anyone finds one, please let me know.

I have a problem where an extra 拢0.27 fee was applied to my account because the fuel tank was a couple of percent less full when I returned it (I had topped it up immediately before returning it, but whatever, that's fine). For some reason that payment was declined, and I have been repeatedly trying to pay it off since then. My bank has confirmed the payment does not even reach them, so the problem is definitely with Getaround. I have filled in the contact form on the website, and heard that they are looking into it, but with no indication of how long that will take.

I need to book another car for two days from now, and I am blocked because of that ****ing 拢0.27 which I can't pay off. Can you tell I'm frustrated?
