I gave up on my strobes when I started doing both video and photos with my canon 5DMII DSLR. The room was a mess with both continuous lights and strobes. I found fovitec from strobist website and have been happy with the brand. The lights are very well balanced and do not show any color casting. They are easy to use and work perfectly for video. I will admit that for photography, you will end up shooting on a higher ISO. I shot with iso 100 with my strobes all of the time and now I am at about 400. This means you do need a DSLR with low noise to use these types of lights. Not a bad trade off though. Their prices are very competitive too.
